Finger Puppets; Family of Seven, HERWIG (Germany), Atelier Niki Tiki collection

We take a look at dolls and doll-related toys—mainly modern European dolls, with a focus on German and Swiss. We start with cloth dolls that are soft to touch, and eventually come to huggable dolls which were originally made for dollmakers’ own children and then spread to the world. Also exhibited are dollhouses, finger puppets, marionettes and more. We introduce dolls as children’s friends, with whom children connect play and life, and we can feel the rapport children developed with dolls.
